Been spinning

Here are a couple of hanks that I finished this week:

I'm so excited about these! This is one full pound of Corriedale.....enough for a sweater (a smallish sweater anyway):

And we finally made it to the beach:

Rainy morning yarn....

This is some handspun that I made from Merino and Wensleydale locks. This kind of core spinning is time consuming but the results are lots of fun.

Some new yarn:

The gray 2 ply is Corriedale from a happy sheep in California. It has been a joy to work with....I have about 500 yards done and I'd like to be able to offer enough for someone to make a sweater so back to the drum carder for me. The multicolored yarn is from a batt that I made from 100% merino and then plied with a silver thread. SOFT, soft, soft....

Works in Progress

It occurred to me that I hadn't taken pictures of all the current spinning works in progress. These are yarns that I've spun from various fleeces. I have an end use in mind for all of the yarn*. For example,  Hector, a Jacob sheep, will be a sweater; the brown Bond will be a scarf. Icepick, (another Jacob) will be a shawl and etc., etc.....

* Until I change my mind.

Super Coil Handspun

I love spinning this kind of yarn. It is time consuming but is enough of a challenge to keep my interest.

What's spinning....

Jacob fleece is my current project. I just adore this fiber. Here is a picture of some of the yarn that I have spun; this is from the ram named Hector.

Here is some lilac colored lamb fleece before washing:

And the clean fleece, batts and yarn after washing. This lilac was a remnant from a bigger fleece that felted on the sheep. I only have a little bit (and that thanks to the kind shepherd). It is spinning into the most lovely silver color.

The white batts are more of Hector's fiber and here is some more yarn from his fleece:

And on the wheel.....

This is some of the Jacob that I bought last weekend. I'm spinning it on the Schacht-Reeves 30" and I am having some serious fun. The Jacob is just a dream to spin (the yarn I have finished is soft and springy; super fiber). After hand picking the washed fleece, I ran it thru the drum carder 3 times. I'll spin another bobbin and ply the two singles.
